PACAM XI - Announcement and Second Call
for Papers
|

The 11th Pan-American Congress of Applied Mechanics (PACAM XI) will be held
at the Itaipu Technological Park (PTI) in Foz do Iguaçu, a cosmopolitan city at the border of
Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay. The period of the
congress is January 4 - 8, 2010.
The congress is open to participants from all over the world and
papers are invited on the listed topics and in other areas within the
Mechanics scope. Please submit a one-page abstract in PDF format no
later than March 30, 2009. A Word template is provided at
the congress
website for generating the abstract. Authors of accepted
abstracts will be asked to submit a full-length paper with a maximum
of six pages no later than June 29, 2009. Acceptance of the
final paper will be based on a peer-review and contingent on
presenting the final paper at PACAM XI. Accepted full-length
papers will be published in electronic format and the corresponding
one-page abstract will be published in Volume 13 of the PACAM
series. E-mail: pacamxi@sc.usp.br.
Presenters of selected papers will be invited to submit an extension
of the work for possible publication in the Journal of Mechanics of
Materials and Structures.

*The Society for Natural Philosophy (SNP)
has confirmed its intent to host a meeting on Advances on
Fundamental and Applied Mechanics: A Bridge between
the Physical Behavior and Mathematical Modeling of Materials.
A banquet for the congress participants and accompanying guests will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2010. Other arrangements are also planned, such as a reception on Monday night, January 4, with a view of the Itaipu Dam, which will be illuminated especially for PACAM XI.
