Abstract

A basic result of Milnor and Scharlau determines the Witt ring of rational function fields Wk(x) whenever char k≠2. An analogous result is obtained here for the Witt group of quadratic forms W_qF(x), where F is a field of characteristic 2. This generalizes earlier work by the authors where F was assumed to be perfect.
