Quadratic forms over rational function fields in characteristic 2

Roberto Aravire and Bill Jacob

Vol. 228 (2006), No. 1, 19–51
Abstract

A basic result of Milnor and Scharlau determines the Witt ring of rational function fields Wk(x) whenever char k2. An analogous result is obtained here for the Witt group of quadratic forms WqF(x), where F is a field of characteristic 2. This generalizes earlier work by the authors where F was assumed to be perfect.
